Born in July 1977, Martin Laursen is a Danish professional football player who plays as a defender for Aston Villa. He has been capped 48 times for his native Denmark, and was one of several players who was an ever present in the 07/08 season.

Laursen endured a torrid time after joining Villa in the Summer of 2004, managing only a handful of games due to a persistent knee injury. A visit to renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman however changed the Dane's stuttering Villa Park career, and he is now a fans favourite due to his brave style, courage and ability.

Laursen is tipped to take over the captaincy from current captain Gareth Barry in the 08/09 season. He was somewhat prolific last season, notching up 6 goals in all of the games he played for the club.
